Overview
J. Alex Prescott represents plaintiffs and defendants in complex litigation, including policyholders in insurance coverage disputes, business litigation, and individuals in tort cases involving catastrophic injury. He has successfully litigated, including prevailing on dispositive motions, in state and federal courts insurance coverage actions, breach of contract claims, construction claims, tort actions, and professional negligence claims. Alex also has experience in various alternative dispute resolution methods.
Before joining the firm, Alex served as a law clerk for the Honorable Magistrate Judge Brian K. Epps in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia. As a law clerk, he was able to obtain an invaluable perspective into federal court practice, including in-depth application of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and the Federal Rules of Evidence among a wide range of federal claims. Alex also aided the Court in the settlement of numerous cases via court ordered mediation.
Subsequently, Alex was an associate for a national trial firm based in Atlanta, wherein he represented corporations and insurance carriers in tort, insurance coverage, and construction matters. Alex also had the opportunity to present on tort litigation issues and defenses for one of the nation’s largest foodservice corporations.
Alex received his juris doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law, graduating cum laude. While in law school, Alex was a member of Georgia Law Review and the mock trial team. Alex completed his undergraduate studies at Georgia State University, graduating magna cum laude. Alex played Division I baseball for all four years at Georgia State University.
Alex was selected by his peers as a Super Lawyer – Rising Star in 2023 for Civil Litigation. Alex is licensed to practice in both state and federal courts within Georgia and South Carolina.
