Overview

Ethan M. Knott is a trial lawyer. His practice focuses on business litigation, insurance recovery, and personal injury involving catastrophic injuries. Ethan also assists clients with litigation avoidance. Ethan has been selected by his peers as a Super Lawyer – Rising Star every year since 2020. Ethan has also been selected for the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America list.

  • Business litigation. Ethan represents entities and individuals in complex business litigation. Ethan has successfully handled claims involving breach of contract, civil RICO, construction disputes, fiduciary duties, restrictive covenants, partnership and shareholder disputes, shareholder derivative disputes, trade secrets, the Uniform Commercial Code, and unfair competition, among others.
  • Insurance recovery. Ethan helps policyholders recover their insurance claims. This includes advising clients on their claims, litigating coverage issues, and pursuing bad faith claims. Ethan has successfully handled claims involving commercial general liability policies, professional liability policies, owner controlled insurance programs, property policies, and residual value insurance policies, among others.
  • Personal injury. Ethan helps individuals that have suffered serious injury from the negligence of others. Ethan understands the physical, emotional, and financial hardships that serious injuries impose on individuals and their families. Ethan provides compassionate, effective representation to help clients navigate this challenging time and secure the justice and compensation they deserve.
  • Litigation avoidance. When possible, Ethan helps clients avoid litigation. Whether this involves reviewing agreements to help identify and mitigate potential risks or helping to resolve claims in their infancy, Ethan seeks to ensure entities and individuals resolve potential issues early outside litigation.

Ethan is active in local and national legal associations. In the Atlanta Bar Association, he currently serves as the Vice President for the Atlanta Council of Younger Lawyers, a Member-at-Large on the Litigation Section Board, and a co-leader for the SideBar Program. Ethan is a Master in the Judge Clarence Cooper American Inn of Court and serves on its Executive Committee. Ethan is also a member of the American Bar Association and Federal Bar Association.

Ethan started his career as a law clerk for the Honorable Sheri Polster Chappell, United States District Judge for the Middle District of Florida. Before joining Fellows LaBriola, Ethan practiced at a global AmLaw 100 firm.

Ethan received his juris doctor from the University of Miami School of Law, graduating magna cum laude. While there, Ethan served as a Research and Writing Editor for the Business Law Review. Ethan completed his undergraduate studies at Florida State University, graduating cum laude with a degree in finance.

Outside the office, Ethan is active with the Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, having obtained the Eagle Scout rank, and with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta.

Ethan is licensed to practice in Florida, Georgia, and Texas.

  • Represented medical device supplier in federal court regarding Lanham Act claims over the design, labeling, and advertising of Class II medical devices.
  • Represented equipment supplier against petrochemical company in federal court regarding the breach of a secured promissory note.
  • Represented multi-national engineering firm against a public utility in arbitration involving the renovation and upgrade of a hydroelectric production facility.
  • Represented national mortgage lender in federal court regarding alleged violations of federal communications laws.
  • Represented consortium of construction firms against equipment manufacturer in state court involving the construction of a supercritical coal-fired power plant.
  • Represented web developer against e-commerce store in state court regarding breach of partnership agreement.
  • Represented pipeline contractor against natural gas company in federal court involving the construction of a natural gas pipeline.
